What we collect
TalkPod is operated by TalkPod Pty Limited, an Australian company, which acts as the data controller for the information described in this policy.
TalkPod collects the minimum data necessary to provide the service: your account information (email, display name via Clerk authentication), podcast subscriptions, listening activity, and engagement data (reactions, voice interactions, notes).
We process podcast audio through AI to generate transcriptions, summaries, entity extraction, and smart chapters. This processing happens on our servers and the results are stored to improve your listening experience.
We record the IP address a request came from when you report a comment, claim a show, or send us a support request, and we use IP addresses across the service for rate-limiting and abuse prevention.
How we use your data
Your data is used to power the TalkPod experience: personalised recommendations, AI-powered episode insights, voice interaction history, and engagement analytics for podcast creators. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Analytics and diagnostics
We measure how TalkPod is used, and we monitor it for errors and performance problems. Two systems do this.
Our own first-party analyticsrecord aggregate engagement and coarse location — country and region only — to understand listening trends and power creator dashboards. These records are linked to your account. They never include your IP address or your precise location.
Heystack, a third-party service, provides our error tracking, performance monitoring and product analytics. What it receives depends on how you use TalkPod: on every platform, your account identifier, the actions you take in the app, and the app version; on iOS, your device's vendor identifier, device model, operating-system version and crash reports; on talkpod.io, a recording of your session on the site — the pages you view and the interactions you make — along with browser errors and the addresses of pages you visit; and from our servers, our request logs and traces, which include the IP address your request came from.
Heystack processes this data on our behalf so we can find and fix faults. It is not used for advertising, and it is never sold or shared with data brokers.
We use no advertising SDKs and no advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. Because the app contains no third-party advertising or cross-app tracking technology, it does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission.
Support & feedback
When you send a bug report, idea, or question through the in-app Help & feedback form, we collect the message you write and basic technical details — your app version, operating-system version, device model, and language — to help us reproduce and resolve the issue.
If you're signed in, the report is linked to your account so we can follow up; you can also send feedback without signing in. We keep a record of the originating IP address with each report for abuse prevention and rate-limiting. This information is used only to provide support and improve the app; it is never used for advertising and never shared with data brokers.
Podcast data
TalkPod ingests podcasts via public RSS feeds. Episode audio is processed for transcription and AI analysis. We respect podcast creators' rights and provide tools for creators to claim and manage their shows on the platform.
Authentication
We use Clerk for authentication. Your login credentials are managed securely by Clerk and are not stored on our servers. Please refer to Clerk's privacy policy for details on how they handle authentication data.
Emails we send
If you join the waitlist, we'll only email you about your spot and batch invitations — nothing else. You can opt out at any time by replying to any waitlist email or writing to privacy@talkpod.io.
We also send transactional emails tied to actions you take, such as a verification code when you claim a show or an invitation when a creator adds you as a co-manager. These are sent only in response to something you or a collaborator initiated.
We don't sell or share your email address for third-party marketing.
Data retention
Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Anonymised, aggregated engagement data may be retained for analytics purposes.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change, and we'll always revise the date at the top. Last change: we clarified how our analytics and diagnostics work, named the third-party service that provides our error tracking and performance monitoring, and described where we record IP addresses.
